St. Eustatius DXpedition 2011

The team and our plans

PLANS

After the DXpedition we organized last year (more info at http://www.pj5-2010.dxing.pl/) we decided to visit St. Eustatius again this year. There were many DXpeditions to PJ5 since it became a separate DXCC entity but the demand for QSOs with PJ5 is still relatively high. So we thought: why not, let’s do it again. So we started the preparations and finally pour plans came truth:

  • Callsigns:
    • SP6EQZ: PJ5/SP6EQZ (CW only)
    • SP6IXFPJ5/SP6IXF (SSB and RTTY); PJ5/SO6X (SSB in CQ WW DX SSB Contest)
  • Time of activity: 20th October – 3th November.
  • Bands: 160m – 10m

We’ve booked exactly the same location as last year. Of course we have fly tickets in our hands. During last days before leaving we cgain check all the equipment and complete missing details.

This time we are going to take a spiderbeam (there was no beam antenna last year) and verticals. We take two full equipped stations – lots of luggage. We are going to be active on all HF bands (160 – 10m) using two stations. Activity on CW, SSB and RTTY.

Wlodek PJ5/SP6EQZ will be active mostly on CW and RTTY while Janusz PJ5/SP6IXF will operate mostly SSB. Janusz is also going to participate the CQ WW DX SSB Contest – as PJ5/SO6X.

THE TEAM

Janusz SP6IXF lives in Wroclaw (South-West part of Poland). He is a member of the SP DX Club and SN0HQ Team. His current state of DXCC achievements is 340/348. Janusz is a holder of the contest call SO6X. He built a contest station in Machnice (suburb of Wrocław). His favourite mode of operation is phone. He can be heard on RTTY as well. He works on CW too but he doesn’t like telegraphy very much. Previous DXpedition experience: V51/SP6IXF (February – March 2002), V5/SP6IXF (February – March 2005), FJ/SP6IXF (February 2008), FS/SP6IXF (February 2008), OY/SP6IXF (August 2009), PJ5/SP6IXF (October 2010), OZ/SP6IXF (Bornholm Is., 2011).

He was a winner of some categories in international contests like SPDXC, WWDXC, WAEDXC, CQ160m. His favorite mode of operation is CW but he works phone and RTTY as well. Wlodek was a member of the Polish DXpedition 3B7SP (June 2007) and worked as PJ5/SP6EQZ in October 2010.

Hello. I will look for you on all bands. Because still I need PJ5/6 on 80,15,12,10m. I heard you around 21Z on 10m but the time was little bit early for me. Please look for JAs on high bands until 23UTC. CW operation is great helpful for us. 73 and see you soon. de JH4IFF
