We really appreciate your help. Thanks!
On Saturday, according to the timetable (at 10:50 UTC) Janusz SP6IXF and Wlodek SP6EQZ landed at the Warsaw Airport. Tom SP5UAF, Bogdan SP5WA, Zygi SP5ELA and Iza SP5-73-002 were waiting for them at the “Arrivals”. There were not any problems so very soon after landing our friends apeared with their luggage. They were welcomed as real stars which surprised other passangers…
We had not too much time for talking but some very hot news from the DXpedition were told. It was was worth waiting for Wlodek and Janusz as we received QSL cards for our QSOs. It was great.
Next our friends packed all their luggage to the car and started to Wroclaw.
So the DXpedition is over. Wlodek and Janusz must recover after a long journey and surely they will publish more news, statistics and stories.

Last news from Wlodek SP6EQZ:
Our PJ5 DXpedition is coming to the end. There were some minor problems with the equipment and some health problems but after all togehter we had over 30k QSOs in our both logs. So we can say we have completed our plan.
Last night we had heavy thunderstorms all over St. Eustatius and neighbour islands so it was impossible to work on the radio. Lightnings were strucking the volcano and the rain was really terrible. I had some SKEDs on the top band but it was impossible to work. I will try again in the evening, especially for Europe.
Today, before evening some antennas will be already put down and tomorrow in the morning everything will be completely dismantled. Tomorrow in the afternoon we will be flying back to Poland. On Saturday at 10:55 UTC we are going to land at the Warsaw Airport.
We would like to say „Thank you” to all friends who called us and probably sometimes had a lot of patience to work us. We know we were not able to work everyone an all needed bands/modes but it is just the part of the hobby.
It started to rain yesterday at noon and it is still raining today after 24 hours. There were also some thunderstorms with strong lightings.
The roof of the building where the station is located seemed to be solid but after some hours of raining it began to leak and large streams of the rain water were pouring down the floor.
Janusz and Wlodek are going to put down the Spiderbeam antenna today but it can be very hard job at this time. They will be still active today using R7 vertical on higher bands and an Inverted L on 160 meters.
There are over 29k QSOs in their both logs. They will try to make over 30.000 QSOs. Good luck!
We have last days of the DXpedition. At noon, on Saturday (2011-11-05) Janusz and Wlodek are landing at the Warsaw Airport “Okęcie”. On Tuesday they hired a car to make some sightseeing trips. The Island is small so it did not take much time. In fact they drove three times around the Island and it was only about 20 kilometers.
They were also told about the places where it is possible to see the coral reef but they have no diving mask. During the trip they could see an American Kestrel – a rare bird locally known as Killy-Killy. Please visit the website http://web.me.com/hannah.madden/ - wonderul site presenting beautiful pictures of the flora and fauna of St. Eustatius. Visit also http://www.statiapark.org/ - the website of the St. Eustatius National Parks. Now, when you surely logged some QSOs to PJ5/SP6IXF and/or PJ5/SP6EQZ and you have more time
the mentioned websites are really worth visiting.
Of course Janusz and Wlodek will be active on bands till the moment when it will be necessary to dismantle the station and antennas and prepare to the journey.
Janusz SP6IXF worked in the contest using the callsign PJ5/SO6X. He operated about 25 hours making over 3000 QSOs. There were not many EU callers while the W/VE pileups were tremendous.
During the (right after the contest) they had a havy tropical storm again: strong wind and heavy rain. Antenna was jerked by a strong wind and finally the rope which was fixing the antenna was untied. In the wind antenna turned many times breaking the feeder. Fortunately it was easy to repair. Two days ago there was also a problem with the DRAKE L75. It was a problem with the relay but – blessing in disguise - it was possible to solve this failure as it was only necessary to clean the contacts of the relay.
So Janusz and Wlodek still have a few days on the Island and they keep working on bands. During last days they received DXpedition support from next HAM friends. Big THANK YOU goes to: DJ4GJ, HB9CWA, IK7YZG, JA1BK, JA1GCA, K3RYA, ON4JM, SP1NY, SP2JKC, SP9JZU, W1DYJ and the SP DX Club.
The top ten countries list on CW so far is as follow (this year opertion only):
1.W/K 2640 2. DL 1032 3. JA 804 4. SP 699 5. UA 606 6. I 387 7. OK 302 8. UR 292 9. F 284 10. G 240
Thank you for callin us and co-operation.
Janusz is working in CQWWDX Contest as PJ5/SO6X. During the night he worked on 160, 80 & 40 m bands with not so good result. 500 W output with wire antennas is not enough for such contest. Only few stations from Europe answered to his call. So PJ5 Dxpedition seems to be small pistol station. At the moment he moved to the upper bands which has been opened already and took run position on 14 MHz.
We had a big tropical storm during the night with heavy rain, lightings and hurricane wind.
As a result of the storm our K9AY antenna has been destroyed. Despite of problems we have over 16 K QSOs in the log.
We are running 2 stations on 24 & 28 MHz at the moment.
Thanks!
